Kiz: ‘If I was in any doubt about leaving Orange/EE, this letter to “Mr Crosbie”, after being a customer for more than 10 years, convinced me.’

Edinburgh brochures

Sooze: ‘Aha Kiz, I have one of these phone-book size Fringe brochures now too! (see post on 22 July) My Cov buddy is just back from Edinburgh and she kindly picked up these booklets for me. Including a handy bus timetable for the route past our camp-site!’

Kiz: ‘Took a group from TVYT on a road trip to Alnwick Playhouse this evening to see what their Youth Theatre have been up to. I finally got home at 1215am having spent most of the drive worrying about dinging the car I’d hired to fit them all in and having to pay the £850 excess!                  Fun night though.’

Large pink rose

Sooze: ‘All us ladies kept one of these beautiful big roses from the simple floral arrangement on my nan’s coffin yesterday. I didn’t used to like having cut flowers in my home but now I enjoy them as a lesson in impermanence.’

Kiz: ‘Got my first haircut of 2014 today. (Oh dear.) But I’m pretty pleased with it, which is unusual. Looking forward to seeing how it fares when my hair inevitably rebels against change.’

Sooze wearing pink roses in hair

Sooze: ‘Connie’s funeral. I’m wearing pink roses in my hair because she loved pink flowers and she loved seeing my hair worn up.’

Kiz: ‘We’re down to the last plum on our tiny tree in the back yard. We’ve had a good twenty or more though – I lost count of the ones that the dog helped himself to! How does one dog-proof a tree..?’

Cauliflower gift

Sooze: ‘What to give the woman-with-everything who’s dieting…? Well, they do say, ‘Say it with (cauli)flowers’…’

Kiz: ‘This is how we roll at bedtime in our house!’

Swimming in the Avon at Riverside Tiddington Stratford

Sooze: ‘Can’t stay out of the water. This ideal spot on the Avon is in front of the impressive new Riverside venue in Tiddington. Tempted to have a beer on their bar terrace but happy with my flask of green tea.’

Kiz: ‘Checking out the competition… just watched the Northern Stage Summer school performance. Will shortly be having a drink with these two, the lovely Emma and Ruth.’

River swimming at Wolvercote

Sooze: ‘It’s wild swim weather! We stripped off the biking leathers to hop into this beautiful bit of the Thames in Wolvercote, just north of Oxford. WYWH Kiz :-)’

Kiz: ‘Another day, another beach trip. AMAZING weather! These two remind me of the Newbiggin statues down the coast.’

24 boxset

Sooze: ‘It’s been so long since this was on TV, I’m rewatching it. Interesting how my memory has erased most of it.’
