Kiz: ‘I’m pretty pleased with that. Painted some of the tired, old bricks at the back of the house and finally mounted the painted trellis. Never paint a trellis. It’s beyond mind-numbing!’
Sooze: ‘New(ish) car goes through 16000 miles. The expert tune-up and health-check it had this week was the best £50 I’ve spent in a year.’
Kiz: ‘Got your postcard today, Sooze! Ta. It expresses my sentiments exactly… and probably ours the next time we share a wild swim… unless this weather improves, or we can find our way somewhere warm together!’
Sooze: ‘At Mercedes Coventry, this row of cars are all abandoned. I commented on the unloved Smart covered in debris under the tree – one of the staff told me the ‘owners’ of these cars get work done on them, then realise they can’t afford it, and so abandon the cars here. Nuts eh? Reminded me (a bit) of the images in the news a few years ago of rows of sports cars abandoned at Dubai airport…’
Kiz: ‘Hmmmm… must be a good year for these monsters. They’re all over the path on our walk today!’
Sooze: ‘Never would have found this without TripAdvisor: DC-6 Diner at Coventry Airport. The inside of this 1950s airline has been converted into a restaurant with a stylish bar at one end. The cockpit is still as it was. We took the last table – even on a random week-night, it was fully booked with people celebrating birthdays etc. A memorable if slightly wacky evening.’
Kiz: ‘Out for a walk with Islay and Jasper today. The grass is scattered with these lovely wild flowers that I keep missing as I run past each morning.’
Sooze: ‘The urge for an outdoor swim drew me to Droitwich Lido which made it to The Times‘ top 5 UK outdoor pools last year. It reopened for summer yesterday. And it was empty! Not a soul to be seen except the cheerful but bored lifeguards. It was chilly. It was brine-y (filled with the spa water). It rained. I loved it.
